| Barron County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian-based non-profit organization building houses in partnership with low-income families currently living in inadequate shelter. Partner families work side-by-side with volunteers to build their homes, and then purchase the homes from Habitat with an affordable no-interest loan. Houses are built using volunteer labor and donated materials and services whenever possible. To qualify for a Habitat home a family must currently be living in some kind of inadequate housing, must meet the low-income guidelines but still have adequate income to pay the mortgage, taxes and insurance, and must be willing to help build their home as a partner with Habitat. A family is considered anyone who lives in a home. It could be a single person, a retired couple, a single parent, or a two-parent family with children. Funds to support the program are raised locally. Habitat for Humanity is an Equal Housing Opportunity Provider. |
